I was googling poached eggs earlier and came across this recipe, which I promptly made for dinner. It was DIVINE.

mixed greens tossed with finely sliced red onions and a dijon/red wine vinegar/italian parsley vinaigrette
topped with:
sliced grape tomatoes
bacon diced and fried
chanterelles and crimini's deeply sauteed in a bit of the bacon grease
and a garlic crouton (slice of baguette brushed with garlic lightly sauteed in olive oil) & poached egg
Sometimes it's so sad when dinner ends.

oh yeah, and roast beef, too. And gravy, and peas, and roasted carrots, and garlic mashed potatoes. But most importantly, YORKSHIRE PUDDING.

This was my first attempt at this grand and most favourite meal. I did overcook the meat, which I think is a common issue, but it was still so so tasty. I am currently enjoying cold roast beef sandwiches with mustard.

The big Holiday Update is finally all up there! You will notice the Hanukkah cards are not listed yet. That is because I had some problems with printing, but the cards will be added tomorrow. This is the last big shop update until Jan. 1st.
I might still add a few things here and there–as I sew my goods for the two big December shows I am doing, but in general this is it. This way I can leave my shop open but not stress over getting goods made.

Cell Parts and Their Functions
Nucleus
- Large Oval body near the centre of the cell.
- The control centre for all activity.
- Surrounded by a nuclear membrane.
Nucleoplasm
- is the protoplasm in the nucleus.
- contains genetic material ---> CHROMOSOMES (DNA)
Nucleolus
- is found in the nucleus.
- contains more genetic information (RNA)
Cell Membrane
- the outer boundary of the cell.
- it separates the cell from other cells.
- it is porous ---> allows molecules to pass through.
Cell Wall ( Plant Cells Only )
- non living structure that surrounds the plant cell.
- protects + supports the cell.
- made up of a tough fibre called cellulose.
Cyto Plasm
- cell material outside the nucleus but within the cell membrane.
- clear thick fluid.
- contains structures called organelles.
Vacuoles
- are clear fluid sacs that act as storage areas for food, minerals, and waste.
- in plant cell the vacuoles are large and mostly filled with water. This gives the plant support.
- in animal cells the vacuoles are much smaller.
Mitochondria
- power house of the cell.
- centre of respiration of the cell.
- they release energy for cell functions.
Cells Are the basic units of life.
There are seven characteristics of life which all cells and life forms do.
1) Living things require food for energy.
2) Living things respire. Respiration is the breakdown and use of energy contained in food.
3) Living things respond to the environment.
- Plants turn towards the sun.
- animals move to avoid danger and to obtain food.
4) Living things produce waste.
5) Living Things are able to repair themselves.
6) Living things grow and reproduce.
7) Living things have a limited lifespan.
our teeth are like little chopping machines. They chop and grind your food into little pieces so that they can be swallowed. Saliva makes it mushy so that it's easier to swallow.
The esophagus is a tube about 10 inches long that connects your mouth to your stomach. The esophagus has muscles that squeeze the food, like when you squeeze toothpaste out of the tube. It moves the food slowly into the stomach.
Did you know that food spends 2 or 3 hours in your stomach? It doesn't just sit there, your stomach is busy mixing the chunks of food you swallowed with acids that turn it into a milkshake like mixture.
After your stomach is done making a mushy milkshake like mixture of your food, it goes to the small intestine. The small intestine has the important job of breaking down the food mixture so your body can absorb all the nutrients it needs from food - vitamins, minerals, proteins, carbohydrates, and fats. Your small intestine is 22 feet long!
Anything that cannot be absorbed into your body goes to the final part of the journey, the large intestine. The large intestine is fatter than the small intestine and its job is to move all the things your body doesn't need out of your body. It holds all the waste until you are ready to go to the bathroom.
By this point in the digestive journey everything your body needs from the food you eat has been removed, and what's left is solid waste called feces. This waste is removed from your body when you go to the bathroom.
